My wife and I met Suzanne through HouseCarers.com and engaged her for a sit at our home in Santa Fe, NM for just under a month in the summer of 2017. We have three cats and lots of plants and gardensthat were under Suzanne’s care. One of our cats is elderly (22 years) and requires a bit of watching. Seems like she wanted a bit of extra attention…When a house sit begins, we all hope for normalcy but occasionally the sitter is called upon to take extraordinary actions. One early morning, our elderly cat was on a wander and ended up in our indoor pond. While she managed to get out of the water she was wet and very unhappy. Suzanne came to her rescue and nursed her for several days till she was back to normal. We were concerned that we might have to put her down (the cat, not Suzanne) because she appeared to be very sick. Suzanne agreed to wait and see and carried her back to health. The important aspects of this
situation were first, Suzanne’s immediate communication with us, second, was her willingness to take whatever action necessary for the welfare of the animal and finally, she endured the illness and mess that comes with a sick animal. Suzanne approaches problems head on without hesitation. To me, that is crucial capability that not all people possess. In the end, we returned to a clean house with a full compliment of happy cats and plants. I recommend Suzanne as a house sitter and would ask her to stay in our home again.
