What is Reiki?

As we know from quantum science, everything around us consists of energetic frequencies. The energy of a rock is different from that of water, air, and food. More so, the energy of certain types of charismatic people is also different from, say, the energy that you feel when you look into the Grand Canyon. Understanding that the world is made up of different kinds of energy can help clarify the concept of Reiki energy, which is one of the highest frequencies of energy in the world.

Reiki is a healing energy that can never hurt anyone. Instead, it facilitates the body’s ability to relax and balance the energy centers known as chakras. There are seven chakras in the body located at the root of the spine, right below the belly button, at the solar plexus, at the heart, the throat, the third eye, and the crown of the head. Each of these chakras correlate to specific dis-ease, be it physical, emotional, or mental. When the energy is balanced, the body and mind can start to heal.

Can Reiki treatments be remote?

Yes! Reiki can transcend space and time, so practitioners who are attuned to Level 2 and beyond can also send Reiki energy into the past and future. It is also possible to offer treatments remotely. These remote treatments can be just as powerful — and sometimes even more so — than in-person sessions. This is because recipients may feel freer to address emotional and mental imbalances without a feeling of social interaction with a practitioner.

What can I expect from a Reiki treatment?

Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Most people feel very relaxed and even sleepy when receiving Reiki. You may see colors or have visions. You may even fall asleep! Rest assured that the treatment is working, no matter what. Advanced Reiki practitioners, such as Shihan masters, have a deeper relationship with the energy and often facilitate deeper healing. Masters with greater purity, such as sobriety from alcohol and vegetarian diets, provide a cleaner conduit for the energy, too.

What is an attunement?

For those interested in connecting directly with the Reiki healing energy, anyone can receive what is known as an attunement from a Reiki master. Attunement is a relatively quick process that involves sacred symbols that unlock a pathway between an individual and Reiki energy. However, attunements must also include a class to teach the process of a treatment, an understanding of the different kinds of energy in the world, a deep-dive into the chakra system, and a discussion of the history of Reiki. The attunement and class lasts around 3-4 hours.

Attunements must be done in person, and they last a lifetime. Once you have been attuned to a level of Reiki, you will never need to repeat the process. However, some people do since an attunement is also a very deep and powerful healing treatment. These are not inexpensive, as they provide a lifetime of healing that helps people reach their highest potential.
